Work Expectations

Student leader sits at table distributing brochuresHours

Core Services members are expected to participate fully in Fall Training (early August–late September), working up to 15 hours per week, and an average of 15 hours per week during the school year. Depending on the leadership position you are hired for, there may be additional training at the request of the supervisor.

Wage

All student leadership positions are paid Highline’s minimum wage.

Academics

Students are expected to maintain a class load of 6 credits (minimum) and a cumulative 2.5 GPA during each quarter of employment.

Second job

Because of the significant commitments necessary to work in the Center for Leadership & Service and Center for Cultural & Inclusive Excellence, in addition to achieving academic success, second jobs are strongly discouraged and will be a consideration in the hiring process.

Evaluation

Students are evaluated quarterly to assess their own leadership and personal growth. Continued employment is contingent upon receiving satisfactory performance evaluations.
